You like the 1190 but want the extra bells and whistles, you've got the money - you don't need to justify it to anyone but yourself, get the 1290. If you decide yo want something smaller after riding it a year or 2 there will be 790's on the used market. Not even sure how the 1200 scrambler is on your list. #6.

When riding tough trails, the tip of the stock brake lever can get caught on rocks, stumps, or branches, bending and ultimately breaking your rear brake lever.
My 890 does this. That's not normal, before digging deeper for problems change the oil, try 300v2 same viscosity and then new spark plugs, fuel filter, oil filters and screens, air filter, and flush the wash the fuel tank. Do the 15 minute ecu reset as well it worked for some people.

Oddometer: 50. Location: Southern Illinois. I just swapped out rear tires on the bike and took it out for a test ride to make sure everything was good. Above 35mph a warning comes up and says that the ABS failed. Light stays on. Turned the bike off, turned the ignition off and started it again. Did the same thing above 35mph.
Catastrophic Engine Failure. So, I have a 2017 Duke 390. Purchased new in 2017. All serviced per the manual, last oil change was 1000 miles ago, this year. Only 4600 miles, and it's been a pure joy. I checked the oil about 2 months ago, after the service, and it looked clean and good. Hadn't ridden it in a about a month.
